kathy-397308, I could not agree with you more. It's time the do gooders get their head out of the sand and realize this is a money issue. What they have done is, hand down from their lofty seats, another unfunded mandate. Kathy, I live in Connecticut and food prices have gone through the roof. My grocery bill has more than doubled in the past year. At this time and I stress at this time I am able to buy fresh vegetables, fruit & fish, but we have cut back on everything. If government is so "concerned" with our health why don't they ban the sale of tobacco products. The answer to that is easy...they generate large amounts of tax monies! I wish you and your children the best.
Kathy, I'm sorry to hear that!
I'm guessing by you re comments you're trying to do what's best for your kids! I applaud that!
For the purposes of this discussion, fast food restaurant's aren't the problem. When you, and I (and a few million friends), say enough is enough WE can change things!
The issue isn't fast food. It's what can be done with what you have. If it's food stamps, lets make that work! The issue is that what is RIGHT for your kids, and you to eat isn't available. Let's make that the issue... McDonald's can figure out what they need to do on their own!— Oak Park
People like Mike E. sometimes say things without thinking about the damage their words may cause. I agree with you, most healthy foods are expensive. Those who have a little more then some still don't eat their veggies when they should but that is (usually by choice). I just wanted to encourage you and many other hard working mother's like yourself. I know you are doing your very, very best! Keep up the hard but sometimes unappreciated work of being a parent.
